This is a great abridgment of Locke's magnum opus. Besides selections from the essay, there is a chronology, a bibliography, a glossary, and an index. An introduction by the editor situates the work in its historical and philosophical context. The result is a useful reading edition of one of the best-known works of seventeenth-century philosophy.
