Selected Poetry
by Emily Dickinson
This poem seems an appropriate, if simple, reminder for our current times. Would we not be better if we only stray from the Truth in a "slant", so it's "dazzle" doesn't blind us to that which is truly important?
Tell all the Truth but tell it slant--
Success in Circuit lies
Too bright for our infirm Delight
The Truth's superb surprise
As Lightening to the Children eased
With explanation kind
The Truth must dazzle gradually
Or every man be blind--

Thanks for sharing. I really like Emily Dickerson. If I understand whaf she is getting at here I think it is related to people not being able to accept the truth because of preconceived notions and self delusions. Thus, Perhaps it is better to go easy and not confront people too hard with it? If this is what she means, I think this is relevant for today as well as in the past.
Bian,
Your approach sounds good. Her poetry is as relevant as it ever was.
