However Buddenbrooks looks a little more accessible, thanks to your review. I'll have to decided whether I want to read The Magic Mountain again. Apparently, you only start to understand it after reading it twice. Curious, isn't it? :-)Cleohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13152128642971612433noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5231952.post-20169191408555441492016-02-15T08:44:29.737-06:002016-02-15T08:44:29.737-06:00Brian,

This is a good place to start with Mann, or you could consider his short stories to get a taste of what his prose is like. He writes stories filled with details all of which are important for his themes which often center on death, disease, mythology, free will and determinism, and the meaning of life.Jameshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00561320676355168336noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5231952.post-43191253710576302862016-02-15T06:20:50.077-06:002016-02-15T06:20:50.077-06:00Great commentary as always James.
I have not read...Great commentary as always James.

I have not read anything by Mann, but I plan to begin hopefully sooner rather then later.

The conflicts and commentary involving aspects of the bourgeois lifestyle, morality. etc.were an endless source of material for great literature.

Brian Josephhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15139559400312336791noreply@blogger.com
